Ziguinchor, May 5 (APS) – The Education, Family, Health and Gender Institute (IEFSG), affiliated to Assane Seck University in Ziguinchor (South), announced Monday working on a research project intended to lift the veil on the aspirations and models of success for young people in Senegal and Côte d’Ivoire.
“It is a question, through this project, of being able to understand what are the aspirations and models of success of young people in Senegal and in Côte d’Ivoire. We want to understand first who are our young people, what makes them move and what are today the elements that structure and make up their models of success,” said the scientific manager of the IEFSG, Jean Alain Goudiaby.
Speaking on the sidelines of the launching ceremony of this initiative, in the presence of the academic authorities of this University of South Senegal, he indicated that this two -year research project is funded by the French Development Agency (AFD).
It aims in particular to question “what to succeed”, and should ultimately allow to have a “better documentation of the question of young people and models of success which animate them”, we learned from the initiators.
Professor Goudiaby clarified that at Senegal level, his team will work on three different territories, namely the urban environment (Dakar), cross -border circles (Casamance) and symbolic areas such as the city of Touba, on a sample of 3000 people.
“We have chosen to intervene in Touba to understand what is the share of the religious in the construction of success models today for young people in Senegal,” he said.
