The white smoke, heralding the election of a new pontiff sovereign whose identity is still unknown, came out of the headquarters of the Sistine Chapel this Thursday at 6:08 p.m. This event will be commented live on RFJ from 7:00 p.m. in a special program hosted by Cyprien Lovis and Jean-Michel Probst, in the presence of the rector of Notre-Dame du Vorbourg Bernard Miserez as well as Canon Jean-Marie Nusbaume. The identity of the new leader of the Roman Catholic Church will be known when the new elected official appears to the loggia of the Saint-Pierre basilica in Rome.
The jura bells greet the election of the new pope
In accordance with the guidelines given by the Swiss Bishops Conference, the bells of the Jura churches will ring for ten minutes from the appearance of the new Pope in Loggia. In Delémont, the bells sounded as soon as the white smoke appears. The conclave will therefore have lasted only more than 24 hours, one of the fastest in history, the 133 cardinals having locked up on Wednesday afternoon to start the election process. /JPI
