Ferrari F1: These figures prove that even with developments, the 2025 championship is out of reach

-

After only six races out of the twenty-four on the , the observation is already bitter for the Scuderia Ferrari. Despite renewed ambitions and a duo of ultra-competitive pilots, the 2025 Formula 1 season already seems to spin between the fingers of the team. Worse, the figures are final: The current trajectory is almost identical to that of 2023 … year when Ferrari had to be satisfied with a fight for second place, Finally finishing third just behind Mercedes and far behind Red Bull.

94 points in six races: return to box 2023

At glance, the accumulation of 2025 points could go unnoticed. But put into perspective with the previous seasons, it becomes an signal. In 2022, Ferrari already had 169 points at this stage. In 2024, 187 points. But in 2023, the year of relative stagnation, the Scuderia had only 90 points after six races. ? 94 points. Barely better.

Saison Points after 6 GP
2022 169
2023 90
2024 187
2025 94

This parallel is not trivial: it shows that despite the promised developments, the SF-25 offers no of progression. Worse, the results stagnate while McLaren, Mercedes mark their imprint the start of the season.

152 points behind

In Miami, the slap was brutal. While the circuit seemed favorable to Ferrari, Leclerc and Hamilton could not do better than a 7th and 8th place. Result: 152 points behind McLaren, which already peaks at 246 units. Even Red Bull, only carried by a Max Verstappen in a state of grace, remains in with 105 points.

The gap is such as a return to the race for the manufacturer now seems impossible, even with major developments planned for Imola and . The realistic target? Second place, which Mercedes (141 points) and Ferrari (94 points) are already competed.

An unstable car and a structural problem

Current failure is not only explained by points. Technically, the SF-25 does not hold its promises. Unlike the first hypotheses on aerodynamics, The real Achilles heel is mechanical: the rear suspension. Instability, mismanagement of heights, excessive wear of the flat bottom… Ferrari simply does not manage to use his chassis.

-

The worst? The problem has been identified since March, but no rapid solution is possible. A rear suspension is in preparation, but it will not before several races. Until then, the pilots will have to deal with a “wobbly” car, as a source close to the team qualified.

A reset in Barcelona … or a break?

Faced with Miami’s failure, Fred Vasseur spoke of a “reset for everyone” at the Barcelona Grand Prix. But behind this facade speech, worry grows. Internal tensions accumulate: Leclerc seems resigned, while Hamilton no longer hesitates to raise the tone, on the radio as in private. Miami’s clash, between the pilot and the racing engineer, marked the spirits.

Vasseur is now back to the wall. Barcelona could be the ultimate test, not only for the car, but also for the organization chart. The recent of Loïc Serra, in October 2024, to the technical direction has not yet produced the expected effects. And internally, some are starting to consider strong decisions if the results do not follow.

The podium … but not the crown

Despite the electric atmosphere, everything is not lost for Ferrari. The battle for 2nd place in the championship is more than ever. Red Bull seems to depend only on Verstappen, while Mercedes is gaining momentum with Russell and Antonelli, without being untouchable.

But the initial objective, that of bringing a title to Maranello, already seems out of reach. The Scuderia will have to be satisfied, as in 2023, of a role of challenger. With a major shade this year: winter promises, with a new 99 %car, were not held.
