Having no longer run since February 22, on the first stage of the Tour des Alpes Maritimes, Paul Lapeira is experiencing his return date. The champion of France based in Chambéry (Savoie) will catch his first bib on Thursday, May 8 on the occasion of the Boucles de l’Alne in Châteaulin (Finistère), then will chain the next day at the Tour du Finistère around Quimper before finishing his Breton stay with the Morbihan Grand Prix in Plumelec.
“There is no explanation”
Forced to abandon due to a flu on the Tour of the Maritime Alps, it was then a tendonitis in the left knee occurring in training which forced it for ten days of stopping before gradually resuming training.
“It was super hard to live because we had no logical explanation, no clear reason for the trigger for this tendinitis. I did not make an error of adjustment on the bicycle, the wedges or even touched on my shoes … There is no explanation, explains the 24 -year -old Norman. After three and a half weeks the pain has disappeared and since I can redo big volumes, big charges to find the pace. »»
Defend his title of champion of France in June
Too fair for the Ardennes, initially his big goal of the season with a solid collective Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale – finally decimated by injuries – Paul Lapeira now hopes to find a good level to defend his blue white red tunic in late June in the herbaries: “Whether it is so that it remains on my shoulders, or that it stays in the team”.
Until then, he will also be aligned with the Mayenne loops (May 29 – 1is June) and on the Tour of Switzerland (June 15-22). Still in order to build towards the goal of the Vendée.
If his end of the season is not yet traced, said at the start of the year dream of a first selection in the French team during the European Championships in Drôme and Ardèche.
