Flavio Briatore is “too old” to resume his former role as director of Formula 1 stable full -time.

This is the point of view of the former F1 pilot Ralf Schumacher, after the recent events at Alpine F1, including the replacement of Jack Doohan by Franco Colapinto and the resignation of Oliver Oakes.

Some people think that Briatore and Oakes, the stable director who has just started, have disagreed since the start of the season on the promotion of ColariTo in the middle of the season.

These rumors took such a magnitude after the announcement this week of the Doohan-Colapinto exchange for at least five races that Briatore published a yesterday despite the fact that Alpine had indicated that no other comment would be made.

As for Doohan, who now holds the position of replacement, Schumacher is not necessarily disagreement with this demotion.

“He is really someone very nice but he is just not good enough for Formula 1.”

“Briatore believes in Co -Colari – and he also brings a lot of money.”

What Schumacher is clearly in disagreement is that Briatore, who is committed to getting involved “more and more” at Alpine in the absence of Oakes, is able to take over as full -time team director.

“In his role as an advisor and thanks to his experience, he did an excellent job. But he is too old to be actively involved in the company as a team director.”

Indeed, the 75 -year -old , former director of Benetton and Renault F1, underwent a cardiac operation year.

“Flavio will always do what he wants. This is also the reason why Oakes ended his activities. Flavio has not seen anything abnormal when he left. From what I heard, Flavio already does everything himself, but I really hope that no.”
