
Nine people were slightly injured and transferred to the hospital following a road accident between a Stib bus and a car Thursday morning in the commune of Ixelles, the Brussels firefighters said.
“Around 10:40 am, the Brussels firefighters, the medical services as well as the Brussels-Capital/ Ixelles zone police intervened for a traffic accident in Ixelles, at the crossroads on rue du Luxembourg and the Square de Meeûs,” said the spokesperson for firefighters, Walter Derieuw. A STIB car and bus collided. “The car driver was blocked in her vehicle,” continues the spokesperson.
Eight people who were on the bus – including the driver – were evacuated to different hospitals. They are all slightly injured. “The driver of the car was extracted from her vehicle from the rear by taking all the precautions to preserve the cervical spine,” explains Walter Derieu. She was also taken to the hospital, but her vital prognosis is not hired.
-The circumstances of the accident are subject to findings of use by the police. In total, a command vehicle, a self -pump, a outburst truck, a marking vehicle, an SMUR and six ambulances were deployed on site, in the same way as agents of the police area concerned and the STIB services.
