This global epidemic puts Canada at risk of losing status to the disease, which it had acquired in 1998.

Despite the hatching that ended on April 19, 2025 in Quebec, Ontario has been the most affected and lists 1242 cases since the start of the year.

“This is a real public health problem at the moment. Canada has measles in 1998. We haven’t had a hatching of this size for over 30 years, “said Ontario public health doctor Dr Sarah Wilson.

Measles is one of the most contagious diseases, more than COVVI-19, influenza and chickenpox. According to public health, individuals who are not vaccinated therefore run an increased risk of contracting the virus.

In the event of the contraction of the disease, the immune system is weakened and the risk of catching other infections is higher.

In order to counter the epidemic, vaccination is recommended by the Government of Canada.
