The Minister of the Interior, Abdelouafi Laftit, received on Monday in Rabat, the Minister Delegate to the Minister of the Interior, Decentralization and Local Development, responsible for decentralization and local development of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Yacoub Ould Salem Fall.
This meeting comes within the framework of the working visit to the Mauritanian Minister in the Kingdom (May 04-08), at the head of a large delegation made up of senior officials of the departments of the Interior and decentralization, said a press release from the Ministry of the Interior. It is also part of the relations of fraternity and fruitful cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, under the wiser of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and His Excellency President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazwani, aimed at consolidating the foundations of South-South cooperation and current, specifies the same source.
The two parties held enlarged interviews, which were an opportunity to expose the Moroccan experience in terms of advanced regionalization and decentralization and to discuss the means of expanding and developing the prospects for cooperation between the two countries in this vital area.
During this meeting, the two officials stressed the importance of enhancing decentralized cooperation, as an essential lever to promote territorial governance and spatial development. They expressed the common desire to establish effective partnerships between Moroccan local authorities and their Mauritanian counterparts, through the exchange of experiences and good practices in the fields of solid waste management, local services, urban development, territorial planning and digital transformation.
In this context, the press release noted, the two parties focused on the assessment of decentralized Moroccan-Mauritanian decentralized cooperation, which has experienced concrete progress in recent years thanks to a series of projects carried out jointly by the local authorities of the two countries, thus opening the way to the implementation of new mechanisms in order to raise this cooperation to an exemplary strategic partnership.
This visit reflects the positive dynamics of Moroccan-Mauritanian relations, as well as the common desire to promote bilateral cooperation in matters of territorial governance, in the spirit of fraternity and complementarity uniting the two brothers, we conclude.
