The government announces a vast DAARA census operation in June, as part of a aimed at strengthening their autonomy and improving the protection of Talibé .

The announcement was made by the of Family and Solidarity, Maïmouna Dièye, on the sidelines of the Gamou de Ndiawagn Ndiaye, in the commune of Diokoul Dieuwrign (department of Kébémer). This census is part of a strong political will to reform the Daaras system and to fight against infantile begging.

“On the instruction of the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister will take severe measures concerning begging and management of daaras,” said Maïmouna Dièye. She firmly denounced the living conditions of many talibé children, often left to themselves in the streets. “We will do everything to make these children treated like the students of schools. It’s really deplorable to see them wandering the streets at any time, ”she added.

The census, scheduled for June 2025, aims to the daaras operating in the rules and to accompany the recognized daaras serignes. The minister also criticized those who exploit children for lucrative purposes. “Some encourage begging through money transfers. They are not serious, and we will put an end to it, ”said Maimouna Dieye.

This initiative marks an important step in the state’s desire to modernize daaras while ensuring the dignity and safety of the children trained there.
