Morocco will finalize its roadmap on the solidarity economy by the end of 2025

With the support of the Nations Industrial Development Organization (Onudi) and the European (UE), the national roadmap for thecircular economy will be finalized by the end of 2025. This is a strategic and operational plan to accelerate ’s transition to a green economic system to reduce wasteto optimize the use of resources, and to promote sustainable production and consumption practices.

The official launch of the development of this strategy took place during a meeting organized at the end of April with the participation of the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development and other institutions, as well as international partners, in particular UNUDI representatives and the EU delegation in Morocco. This event laid the foundations for a participatory and rigorous process, intended to structure a sustainable and inclusive transition. This process is part of the global project “Switch to Circular Economy Value Chains” (Switch2CE), led by the UNUDI and co -financed by the EU and the Finnish government.

The “Switch2ce” project supports international transition to a circular economy, especially in Morocco, by promoting sustainable growth, a low development carbon emissionthe creation of jobs and a healthier environment without pollution.

In Morocco, this roadmap will be based on an in -depth diagnosis of existing practices in the country with a comparative analysis with international experiences. Consultations will be carried out with public and private stakeholders in order to co-construct a shared vision and to set ambitious strategic objectives. This will also make it possible to the priority sectors and to define concrete measures to be implemented, while designing suitable support mechanisms, in particular in terms of financing and governance. A framework for monitoring and evaluation, based on clear indicators, will complete the process.

The entire process, coordinated by the “Trinomics” design and advice office, aims to the inclusion of all the actors concerned: SMEs, large companies, local authorities and civil society. The deliverable, a diagnostic analysis of the current landscape of the circular economy, is expected in the coming months.

The complete roadmap is expected by the end of 2025. It aims to align the Moroccan economic model on the global objectives of sustainability, while positioning the country as a regional leader in circular innovation in several sectors, including plastic, textiles, construction, and agriculture.
