The Bechir Hamza Children’s hospital medical Team successfully carried out the first microsargical heart operation on a 3 -month -old infant in the brand new pediatric cardiac surgery service of the hospital announces the Ministry of Health in a statement published on Wednesday.
The operation was supervised by a team of specialists in pediatric cardiac surgery, resuscitation and anesthesia, with close medical monitoring on the part of the specialized teams of Gabès, Sfax and Tunis.
The operation was successful thanks to the integration of modern skills and technical capacities. This scientific achievement represents an important step towards reducing the waiting list, improving the management of complex pediatric cardiac cases and the reduction in the need for treatment abroad.
The pediatric cardiac surgery service at the Bechir Hamza University Hospital is one of the new model services equipped with the latest technologies, as part of the specialties and development of health infrastructure strategy.
The ministry thanked, in a press release, the medical, paramedical and administrative staff for their great professionalism and their team spirit, and new successes for the public health system in Tunisia.
