While violent fires are currently raging in Israel, Hamas published on Telegram on Wednesday a message calling the Palestinians to “burn everything they can in the groves, forests and settlers’ houses”. “young people from West Bank, young people from Jerusalem and those who are in Israel, fire their cars … Gaza awaits revenge for free,” wrote the terrorist organization.
A little earlier in the same day, the Telegram Jenin News Network channel had published a similar message accompanied by a photo of a masked person setting fire to a field, with a city on fire in the background. The image is legendary by “the houses of the settlers will be reduced to ashes under the feet of the revolutionaries” and the hashtag “burn the houses of the colonists”.
Many messages of the same ilk have since flowered on Palestinian social networks. “Let us make them the nightmares of the occupation, so that they know that every day is a fight for resistance. Turn on the fires of freedom everywhere. We will not give in and do not give up as long as we have not burned each piece of stolen earth”, can be heard in a video. The fires that ravage Israel were also described as “flood flames”, in reference to the name given by Hamas at the massacre of October 7, “the deluge of Al-Aqsa”.
“The settlers’ houses and the surrounding areas are your target. Burn them with your Molotov cocktails and put fire to the grass near the vanguards of the colonies,” read a largely followed X account. “It is an opportunity for you to stir up fires, cheer up and decide, their colonies, put fire,” calls a telegram channel with several hundred thousand subscribers.
Other messages shared on this kind of social media accounts have called to “take advantage of the heat of summer to burn the forests of the colonists”, or even calls to “burn the occupation forests and its colonies. Go burn, burn”. “Essence and a spark can transform this entity into a hell of fire. The colonies and their forests are your targets”.
