Through abundant program, open to the world and anchored in Cultural realities of the Maghrebthe festival is preparing to vibrate the city for ten days of intense artistic activity.
An ambitious and eclectic programming
Twelve spectacles national and international, carefully chosen by the artistic committee, will be presented in four emblematic places of the economic capital: the Living Arts Studio, The Mohammed VI Theater, The Anfa Cultural Complex et The Mohamed Zefzaf Theater. Some of these shows have already marked the spirits during the Festival d’Avignon or Carthage theatrical daysproof of an assumed artistic requirement and a desire to highlight the most daring works on the contemporary scene.
Tunisia in the spotlight
For this 2025 edition, the Tunisia is honored. The choice of this country as a guest reflects a tribute supported to the vitality of its theater, its formal audacity, its committed poetry and its constant dialogue with the transformations sociales. This focus takes on its full meaning in a Maghreb context where memory, transmission and creation are at the heart of artistic issues. Of the Tunisian artists Will be present on stage, but also in conferences and professional exchanges, thus strengthening cultural bridges between the two banks of the Maghreb.
An openness of spirituality
This work stages Hela, a woman deeply attached to the notion of family, to the point of imprisoning herself. Convinced of the power of sacrifice, she wonders about the absolute love between human and celestial. Her meeting with a writer with cancer, which she discovers through reading, upsets her perception. From this relationship is born a Learning poetry and beauty by The art of cinemain a dynamic close to that binding Jalel Eddine Rumi to Shams Eddine Tabrizi. In this spiritual quest, pain becomes the point of origin of a new birth.
Tribute to three Maghreb figures in the theater
Reflection and transmission at the heart of the festival
The Festival is not limited to representations. It offers a space for reflection through two major conferences bringing together directors, playwrights, actors, poets and researchers. The first, entitled “Cross -looking on the Maghrébi theaterN “, will invite participants to question the aesthetic, social and political issues of today’s theater, from a comparative perspective between Morocco and Tunisia.
The second conference, “committed theater and Palestinian poetry: voice of resistance and humanity”, will explore the way in which art can become a vector of memory, struggle and transmission, by highlighting the resonances between theater and poetry in the contexts of conflict and exile, in particular through the Palestinian prism.
At the same time, three professional master’s degrees are offered to young theater enthusiasts. Hosted by confirmed Moroccan and foreign artists, these sessions will focus on acting, staging and contemporary dramatic writing. They aim to promote the emergence of a new generation of artists, to create an intergenerational dialogue, and to transmit the tools of a living, critical and creative theater.
The detailed program will be deployed on several days: Thursday May 15 at 5 p.m., the Mohammed VI Theater will host an acting workshop animated by Ramzi azaiez ; Saturday May 17 at the same time and at the same place, Ayoub Abou Ennasr will run a bodily expression workshop; Finally, on Thursday May 22 at 5 p.m., the Anfa cultural complex will lend its scene to Julie Ménard for a dramatic art workshop.
Thus, from May 14 to 24, Casablanca will turn into an open scene where speech, gesture and memory will intersect to offer spectators a rare moment of emotion, discovery and sharing.
