The announcement is sober, almost discreet. And yet it weighs heavy. With this first computer equipped with Harmonyos, Huawei buries any idea of going back. It is no longer a parallel ecosystem, it is an assumed system, brought from start to finish, from mobile to computer.

Huawei frees himself from Windows and reveals his 100 % Harmonyos PC
The system is based on a distributed architecture: the single account serves as a passport between the machines, the interactions adapt to the device-keyboard and mouse here, tactile or vocal control over there-, and content pass from one screen to another without friction. What the Apple ecosystem has taken twenty years to polish, Huawei wants to make it native.

Zhu Dongdong’s speech, which directs the Tablets and PC division, is precise: the ambition is to make Harmonyos a work and leisure environment in its own right. Not a compatibility patchwork, not a make -up Android. The whole thing was inaugurated on a concrete machine: the Matebook X Pro 2024, the first to natively embark Harmonyos PC. A PC in classic format, but propelled by a OS designed to operate in consistency with all the other Huawei devices.
On the software side, the base is already solid for the Chinese market: WPS, QQ, Dingtalk in productivity; Tencent video, qq music for entertainment; Some emblematic games like Sanguosha or Blazblue: Chaos Effect. The promise is not abundance, but consistency. To date, more than 150 exclusive applications are available, and more than 2,000 software is compatible via a layer of universal integration.

-On the compatibility side, Harmonyos PC recognizes more than 1000 peripherals: keyboards, mice, instructors of course, but also more specialized devices such as scanners or graphic tablets. No partitioned universes here – everything is done to operate without friction.

Security is not to be outdone. The Starshield architecture is at the heart of the defense of the system, and a function called Nearlink allows you to locate a device even turned off, or even erase your data remotely. Huawei pushes here a logic of technical sovereignty to the end.
The real asset is the logic distributed. Harmonyos PC allows you to use a keyboard and a mouse to control several screens, take up a task started on smartphone, or share a file instantly via Huawei Share. There is no longer any question of distinct devices, but of a unique, coherent, fluid environment.
The bone is designed to operate in a closed ecosystem – but this ecosystem, Huawei builds it piece by piece. Harmonyos 4 is already deployed on many smartphones. The PC now reinforces this set, in a timing which is not hazardous.
In China at first
Will that be enough to shake up habits? Probably not immediately. Because the very first PC under Harmonyos will be officially launched on May 19, 2025 at 2:30 p.m., but exclusively in China. No announcement was made regarding availability in Europe or elsewhere, which is not surprising: the entire software ecosystem is still largely based on services and uses specifically designed for the Chinese market. For the moment, Huawei seems concentrated on a clear objective: to consolidate technological sovereignty at home, before thinking about export.
