EUR/USD global exchange rate today 05/09/2025
During the European session, the EUR/USD was 1.1282. The main reason is that the US dollar (USD) increased slightly after the American Federal Reserve (Fed) announced that it would continue to maintain unchanged interest rates and did not intend to rush to reduce them.

It is the third consecutive time that the Fed has maintained interest rates in a range of 4.25% to 4.5%, allowing the dollar to maintain its strength and push the Doxy index near the threshold of 100.00.
Although the euro (EUR) has slightly weakened compared to the US dollar, it still maintains its position in the face of many other currencies. However, analysts believe that the potential for the increase in the euro will be limited, because the European Central Bank (ECB) should continue to soften its monetary policy.
Many traders believe that the ECB will reduce its interest rates at its meeting next June. ECB officials have also expressed concerns about the economic prospects of the region, but remain confident about the fact that inflation will return to its target of 2 % by the end of the year.
In this context, trade tensions between Europe and the United States are increasing. The European Commission has just published a consultation document to prepare countermeasures in the event of failure of commercial negotiations with the United States. These measures could affect up to 95 billion euros in American imports.
According to the European Commerce Commissioner, Maros Sefcovic, other preparations will be announced, in particular balancing measures and points to be discussed in negotiations with the United States.
However, he pointed out that the absolute priority remained negotiations, but that Europe would not accept any unfavorable agreement.
