Several shooters of the UJB fencing participated in tournaments in Alsace, Saturday May 3 and Sunday 4, in Haguenau and Geispolsheim, with medals at the end.
At the Haguenau Sandhaas tournament (Bas-Rhin), in the M15 ladies category (mixed hen), Varis selene, among eight engaged shooters, signed four victories (5-3; 5-2; 5-0; 5-2) and three defeats (3-5; 1-5; 1-5) in the pool. In the semi-finals, she lost (10-8) and completed her competition in a good third place.
In Geispolsheim (Bas-Rhin), the M13s were in the running for the Challenge de France. Among the ladies, Gisèle Martins-Da Silva recorded a balance sheet of six victories (4-0, 4-0, 4-0, 4-0, 4-1, 4-2) against a defeat (3-4). In the table of “8”, the Bragarde is essential (8-3), before recurrent in the semi-finals (8-2). In the final, she wins with a touch (8-7) and won the title.
In men, ten shooters were engaged. Gabriel Martinelli signed a victory (4-3) and four defeats (3-4, 3-4, 1-4, 2-4). Exempted from the “32” painting, he lost in the table of “16” and finished fourteenth in the general classification.
After a seventh place in the intermediate classification, following three victories (4-1, 4-1, 4-2) and two defeats (2-4, 2-4), Ruben Fenaux-Delorme, exempt in table of “32”, won (8-1) in table of “16”, but bowed into a table of “8” (8-4), finishing eighth in the general classification. Finally, Florian Varis has achieved the best male performance.
After three victories (4-0, 4-1, 4-2) and two defeats (2-4, 1-4) in the pool, he won (8-1) in a table of “16”, then in a table of “8” (8-2) and in the semi-finals (8-3). He bowed in the final (8-4) and returned to Haute-Marne with the silver medal.
