Black Satellites coach Desmond Ofei has commended his players for their disciplined performance in their hard-fought against defending champions at the ongoing U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Ghana’s U-20 side claimed a crucial 1-0 win on Monday night at the New Suez Stadium, with Emmanuel Mensah’s -half goal proving decisive.

Reacting to the , Ofei praised his team for executing the game plan effectively.

“It was a very difficult game, no doubt about that,” he said, following Ghana’s 1-0 win over Senegal. “But tactically, I believe we got it right.”

He highlighted the physical challenge posed by the Senegalese side but lauded his players’ resilience and organisation.

“Senegal came at us with a very direct and physical approach. It wasn’t easy, but our players showed great tactical discipline and fighting spirit throughout the game.”

The coach also emphasised the importance of his team’s composure, particularly in maintaining their narrow lead under pressure.

“The boys followed the game plan, stayed organised, and gave everything on the pitch. That’s all you can for as a coach.”

Ghana will now their attention to their final Group C fixture against the Central Republic, scheduled for Thursday, 8th May 2025.
