This celebration marks the official launch of the MAM (The Moroccan Association of Music), a new name of the former Moroccan Association of Andalusian Music (AMMA). Carried by an extended vision, the MAM affirms its desire to embrace all of the heritage music in Morocco: Andalusian, Amazigh, Gnawa, Melhoun, Hassanie or even contemporary.
This founding moment, supported by the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication embodies the ambition of making traditions dialogue with the future. The MAM is now positioned as a key player in backup, transmission and innovation in the musical field.
For Fatima Mabchour, founding president of the MAM, this renewal is meaningful: “celebrating the diversity of heritage music in Morocco, it is to honor the plural soul of our culture.” By this emblematic evening, the MAM launches a new chapter where heritage and modernity vibrate in unison, bringing together artists, researchers and public around a daring cultural project, on a national and international scale.
