Lime launches in France his new Limebike bike, more compact and agile, already tested and acclaimed abroad. It will gradually replace the old model in several major French cities.

In short:
- Lime deploys its new Limebike bike, more compact, practical and suitable for urban uses in France.
- Tested in Atlanta and Zurich, this electrical model has attracted users and is launched in Nice.
- More comfortable, durable and easy to maintain, it gradually replaces the Gen 4 of the Lime shared bike.
Lime, operator of fleets of free -shared bikes and scooters, introduces in France a new more compact and practical cycling model in town called Limebike. It will gradually replace the 4th generation Lime electric bike that we see in particular circulating in Paris. Better still, it is already riding in Nice and in 11 other cities.
The latter is not so old and had been designed to be very resistant and easily repairable. Nevertheless, the Test campaign of the new Limebike, carried out last summer in Atlanta and Zurich, has paid off. Indeed, this new bike was acclaimed by users, which encourages the company to accelerate its deployment in strategic cities.
A completely revised bike
Mounted on small 20 ″ small wheels, offering a lower span and a lowered center of gravity, the Limebike is more practical and agile in town, while offering a more accessible and bulky basket. It keeps the engine installed in the hub of the front wheel and the removable battery, two elements which facilitate maintenance and repairs.

Certain elements – less visible at first glance – are also improved on this Limebike. This is the case of ergonomic handles, the 2.5 ″ wide tire model or the integrated smartphone support, enough to increase the comfort of the pilot.
The seat is lower (with an adjustment of the reworked saddle height), the more comfortable and reassuring geometry, in short, the company praises the qualities of a very accessible bicycle which should attract the sympathy of the users of its services, after having conquered its first testers.

According to Lime, this new bike is also designed to be even more durable than its predecessor and better resist a high use rate. In other words, it would always be more resistant in the face of user assaults that are not always tender with the bicycle that they praise for a trip.
Users to convince
It remains to be seen whether this Limebike will actually be much appreciated by the followers of cycling in French cities where it will be offered, including Le Havre, Lille, Marseille, Nice or Paris.

Let us take advantage of it to recall that in Paris, the town hall activated the process of reassuring operating licenses for self-service bikes over the period 2025-2029 while Dott and Tier merged, leaving room for a new player. The decision must fall this summer and the retained fleets will deploy their bikes in the capital next September.

Lime obviously hopes to keep his approval but the battle is rough knowing that only 3 operators are chosen and that the candidates are numerous. For example, we have told you about English Forrest or French Pony, two actors who offer two -seater bikes. We were able to ride in Pony during a stay in Hendaye and thus enjoyed the practicality of having access to a cargo bike for rent.
