Morocco chairs the 20ᵉ session of the United Nations Forum on Forests

AbderrahimHoumy highlighted the contributions of this strategy to the objectives of Sustainable development, in particular those relating to the fight against poverty, the restoration of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, and access to clean and lasting energy.

Continuing in this spirit of engagement and sharing, Mr. Houmy announced the organization by Morocco, in June 2025 in Agadir, of an international event dedicated to community management of forests, technological innovation and sustainable financing mechanisms. This meeting aims to promote the exchange of experiences and good practices, to the common challenges, and to offer concrete levers for supporting the orientations of the forum.

Furthermore, it should be recalled that Morocco, represented by Mr. Abderrahim Houmy, was elected in May 2024 member of the forum office for the two years 2024-2026, as a representative of the continent.

This election testifies to the recognition of the international community, and more particularly of African countries, towards the constant commitment of the kingdom in the field of sustainable forest management, in accordance with the informed vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him.
