Foreign trade statistics have become real levers of action and tools essential for decision -making, both for governments and for the private sector, international institutions, academics and civil society, the Minister of Economy and Finance said Nadia Fettah on Tuesday.
“The availability of updated statistical data, detailed and above all established in compliance with international standards and inspired by good practices in this area, is an asset and a determining tool for both public decision -makers and for economic operators,” noted Ms. Fettah during the opening ceremony of the meeting of the group of experts on international trade statistics.
And to note that this data is of great support to governments for the implementation of commercial policy measures and bilateral and multilateral negotiations and of paramount importance for companies that embark on international in the context of search for outlets, the quest for sources of supply at the lowest cost, the observation of competitors and the identification of potential partners.

“For Morocco, committed for several years in a dynamic of deep economic transformation, the development and reliability of its statistical system, in particular in the field of foreign trade, constitute a strategic priority,” she said.
“We firmly believe that the production of quality data, harmonized, comparable and accessible, is a prerequisite for any effective public policy, to any sustainable economic partnership, and to any successful integration into the global economy,” she explained.

Organized by the Changes Office in partnership with the United Nations -Statistics (UNSD), the closing meeting of the work of the group of experts in charge of the revision of textbooks for international trade in goods and services is part of the global dynamic of strengthening the reliability, exhaustiveness and comparability of international trade statistics.
This event, which continues until May 09, also brings together renowned experts and senior officials from more than 30 countries.
