The Spanish Maritime Company Balearia will begin, as of May 8, the operation of a new maritime line connecting the port of Tarifa (south of Spain) to that of Tangier Ville, the company announced on Tuesday in a statement.
This crossing will be ensured by the Fast Ferry Avemar Dos, which recently successfully carried out docking tests in the two ports. This is the fourth bond operated by Balearia between Spain and the Kingdom of Morocco, specifies the same source.
The line will offer, from its opening, four daily rotations in each direction, a frequency called to gradually increase during the summer season, according to the company.

Lasting an estimated duration at one hour, the crossing will be initially operated by Avemar Dos, before the next entry into service of a second fast ferry, also renovated.
« The launch of this new line is a strategic step to strengthen our presence in Morocco“Said the director general of Balearia, Georges Bassoul, quoted in the press release.
As part of its energy transition, the company also provides for the construction of two fast 100 % electric and zero emission ferries, called to serve this link by 2027, it adds.
Active in Morocco since 2003, Balearia is currently operating several maritime lines between the Spanish and Moroccan ports, notably through the Strait of Gibraltar.
