The port authority of the of Cadiz (APBC) has shown great interest in restoring a maritime connection between the port of Cadiz and , during a meeting between professionals in the sector, Moroccans and in Agadir. Maritime connections had been interrupted since 2014.

A delegation from the neighboring country has made the trip to the capital of the Souss Massa region to meet economic actors and discuss commons projects, including the resumption of maritime links. A similar meeting had taken place in 2024, still in Agadir to present the advantages offered by the port of Cadiz.

A group of 45 people, including institutional representatives and companies, in particular the town hall of Cadiz, the regional government of Andalusia, the provincial council of Cadiz, the consortium of the free zone of Cadix and the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Services and Navigation of the City, all supported their desire to further develop the partnership with Morocco

Among this group, were also nearly twenty Spanish companies, all interested in business opportunities between the two countries. During the inauguration of this meeting, the president of the port authority and the representative of the regional investment center of Souss-Massa presented the business opportunities and the synergies between the two sites.

The mayor of the city of Cadiz, Bruno García, accompanied by other political and institutional representatives have emphasized in a discourse on the objective of institutional collaboration between the two banks of the Mediterranean, according to the Iberian press.

Among the Moroccan representatives were, the president of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of Soussa Massa, Said Dor, the Consul General of the Kingdom of Morocco in Algeciras, Driss Sousssi, the president of the Souss-Massa regional section of the CGEL, Driss Boutti, the vice-president of the Municipal Council of Agadir, Abdallah Boulghmail and Mohammed Oudmine, Regional of Souss Massa.

, we are receiving a renewed interest in the objective that brought us to Agadir November and for the port of Cadiz has worked hard to reach in recent years: to restore maritime traffic with Morocco, interrupted in 2014,” said Port de la Baie de Cadix (APBC) Teófila Martínez.

“It is not only a business opportunity, but also of strengthening the links of cooperation and friendship between our regions through a historical link such as trade and maritime traffic,” she added by Diario El Canal.
