The American shipping, pork and lamb expeditions recorded moderate growth in annual sliding in March, according to data from the Department of Agriculture (USDA) compiled by the American Federation of Meat Exporters (USMEF). The value of beef exports has reached its highest level for nine months, supported by a sustained demand in several emerging markets, including Morocco.
Beef deliveries to the African continent jumped 73 % in volume to reach 1,550 tonnes, their value having more than doubled at 2.9 million dollars. This progression mainly stems from high demands in offal, especially in Morocco, Côte d’Ivoire and Gabon. The kingdom recorded a record volume of 1,146 tonnes in first quarter 2025made up almost exclusively of beef livers, an increase of 123 % in value over a year. These flows reflect an anchoring of recently established commercial circuits, reinforced by a mission led by the USMEF in West Africa, during which a dozen countries participated in a seminar organized in Accra.
-Increase marked towards Taiwan, Mexico and Central America
Throughout the month of March, US beef exports reached 109,330 tonnes, an increase of 1 % compared to March 2024. The value rose to $ 922 million, up 4 %, establishing its highest level since June. THE Cumulation for the first quarter 2025 Remains slightly withdrawal in volume at 310,368 tonnes, but has an increase of 2 % in value, reaching $ 2.53 billion.
“Despite persistent uncertainties, the international demand for American beef is maintained with vigor and consistency”said the president and chief executive officer of the USMEF, Dan Halstrom. “The March results testify, with rising flows towards Taiwan and Mexico, historic summits in Central America, and appreciable stability in Japan and Korea. If pricing barriers and health restrictions in China should weigh more heavily in April and May, the sector’s diversification efforts are already their fruits. ”
