In 2025, the Eurovision song competition The longest turquoise carpet takes place in Basel in its history. After Nemo’s victory with «The Code» In Malmö in Sweden in 2024, excitement is in full swing as this 69 approachese edition where Switzerland will be represented by Za and his song «Voyage».
From the Halle Saint-Jacques, the Glamor duo and not without humor formed by Sandra Studer and Hazel Brugger claims to have the audience exploded during the broadcasts live from the semi-finals of May 13 and 15, followed by the grand final of May 17 where he will be joined on stage by Michelle Hunziker.
A trio of presenters for Eurovision is a question of complicity. How do you make this alchemy without really knowing yourself?
Michelle Hunziker: From our first meeting at Sandra in January 2025, the alchemy was instantaneous with Hazel and Sandra. The current passes without any effort between us, because we are easy to live, warm and benevolent.
Hazel Brugger: We always believe that love at first sight is reserved for romantic relationships, but this state of grace also applies to friendship. It feels like we have known each other since always! Animate Eurovision or go for a camping week with Michelle and Sandra, everything suits me!
Sandra Study: In the space of a few seconds, we already talked about our daughters; For the three of us, we have eight! I also have a son, but the power of women together is really incredible. The conversation was not limited to our work, which is a mark of confidence in my eyes.

What does Eurovision mean for you?
Michelle Hunziker: Eurovision is absolute fantasy when working in the entertainment industry. I love music and I did a lot of musical shows. Honestly, Eurovision, I didn’t even think about it: what a chance to be selected to animate this extraordinary event when your country won the previous year! The competition represents a brilliant springboard for artists. I am so happy that this opportunity is made to me the year of my 48 years. I can’t wait to be there!
Hazel Brugger: The Swiss learn very early on to appear in a neutral and non -emotional way. The Eurovision competition offers artists and animators the opportunity to free themselves for a few minutes from this shackles. We do an honor to convince that the image we have of us does not necessarily correspond to reality.
Sandra Study: For my part, I grew up with the Eurovision help, we watched the family program. I dreamed of participating! This dream materialized when I competed for Switzerland in 1991. Since then, I have not left Eurovision, which I commented for many years. It opened so many doors in my career, it’s fantastic to complete this loop this way!
Hazel Brugger: It’s not an end, Sandra. You will become a world legend! Michelle and I count on you to be the first person to win an Oscar from the presenter of a European event (laughs).
Michelle Hunziker: No, this is not an end. And if we win again in 2025, the three of us will start over in 2026!

What is your best memory of Eurovision?
Sandra Study: It was the year of my participation in Italy in 1991. The competition was completely different. There was no semi-final, we were not more than 22 countries in competition and we still had an orchestra, music and song were live. Each country was to sing in its national language. It was another era. Everything was quite chaotic, but it was very equal to me. It was an incredible adventure and, above all, it was the first time I have been standing on a huge scene. Everything got along after that, I was hired on Swiss television.
Michelle Hunziker: I always listen to Sandra’s adventure with great curiosity and empathy, it was the beginning of everything for her. From the three of us, it is the human Wikipedia page of the Eurovision competition! In Italy, the biggest event of its kind in all points of view is Sanremothat I animated for the first time in 2007. I was interested in Eurovision much later. This competition has taken a real magnitude in Italy for ten years.

And then the rock group Moonlight won the competition in 2021.
Michelle Hunziker: Yes of course. But before, no one was really paying attention to this event in Italy, however huge and incredible it is. I am very happy to see that this is no longer the case today.
Hazel Brugger: I never looked at Eurovision alone at home, I always looked at him with friends. When my husband and I moved to Cologne in 2016, we had practically no social life for a year. Until May 2017, where we were invited to a private party, during which we linked new friendships while looking at Eurovision.
What image do you want to give Switzerland to the live viewers of Basel this year?
Hazel Brugger: As the public already knows, we are a trio of women animators. It is already an event in itself, because named three women for a show of this scale does not look like a typically Swiss choice, right? However, it is very modern. We share the same sense of humor concerning certain traditional values of the country. There will also be self -mockery on our part.
Michelle Hunziker: I think this 69e Edition in Basel offers us the chance to give another image of this fantastic country. Often when we talk about Switzerland, the same shots are surfaced. It’s the same in Italy and other countries. Thanks to Eurovision, viewers around the world will see Switzerland in a new light.
Sandra Study: Of course, we will also play these shots, both funny and wacky. There is also this feeling of returning home. Let us remember that it was in Switzerland that it all started in 1956. Eurovision was then a peace project, and we wish to celebrate this philosophy by celebrating with European artists. Beyond cultures and languages, music is a universal language. We are going to play with our DNA, that of democracy. In Switzerland, we like to vote. A principle that is absolutely not contradictory with the idea of a modern and open -minded country, which we are also.

Switzerland is a multilingual country. You are talking all three of Germany and Michelle, Italian. What about French?
Michelle Hunziker: We will speak a little in the three national languages, even if the main language remains English in order to be understood by other countries. Anyway, we are very proud to be Swiss and have all these languages in our DNA.
Hazel Brugger: “Silence in the library, it is not a nightclub!”: We all learned French at school.
Are you talking about a peace project, can the Eurovision song competition clear the political aspect in view of the state of the world today?
Sandra Study: This is a good question. In my opinion, Eurovision must remain a peace project and must not be politicized. We are aware that times are difficult, but we must make sure to maintain this event as a platform of positive emotions and energies, gathering, celebration of diversity and music.
Michelle Hunziker: Obviously, on our side it will be so. But you cannot dictate or control people’s reactions.
Hazel Brugger: The more Europe and the whole world become politically unstable and torn by war, the more we need these artistic bubbles that bring us together. So I hope that the competition will offer European viewers for a respite.
