A 70 -year -old man wearing a kippah was violently assaulted Wednesday evening in Anduze, near Alès (Gard), by an alcoholic individual who repeated anti -Semites, reported Le Figaro.
The victim fueled cats on the street when a 45 -year -old man tackled him to ask him for money. Faced with his refusal, the aggressor identified her as a Jewish before hitting her with a punch in the back, then several kicks once on the ground, while repeating “dirty Jewish” about thirty times according to a witness.
The alleged perpetrator, known to the court services for theft, was arrested Thursday morning and placed in police custody for “violence and anti -Semitic nature”. Visibly drunk during his arrest, he could not be immediately questioned.
The Alès prosecutor, Abdelkrim Grini, described this assault as “completely free, despicable and cowardly”, confirming his anti -Semitic character.
This new incident is part of a worrying context, with 1570 anti -Semitic acts identified in France in 2024, a level qualified as “historic” by CRIF.
