Course and favorites
The course of the race is reduced to 168.1 kilometers (against 200 km last year) but remains demanding, With a significant positive elevation of 2644 meters. To cover three times and dotted with two bumps, the Romanesque coast (800 meters at 5.6 %) and that of Meilh Stang Vihan (700 m at 6.2 %)at the top of which the arrival will be judged, the traditional final circuit of 9.8 terminals will decide the successor of Benoît Cosnefroy (Decathlon Ag2r La Mondiale), which will not be there to defend its title and aim for a 3rd crown in Quimper. The scenario is therefore as always very open even if the most likely remains a sprint between strong and in a limited committee, with an expected battle between the most resistant sprinters and the fastest sketches, like the list of the last five years (Cosnefroy X2, Julien Simon X2 and Paul Penhoët).
With six WorldTour teams at the start, the set promises to be enticing, with renowned runners like Matej Mohoric, Fred Wright (Bahrain Victorious), Alex Aranburu, Bryan Coquard (COFIDIS) Paul Lapeira (Decathlon Ag2r La Mondiale), Iván García Cortina (Movistar), Emilien Jeannière, Anthony Turgis (TotaalEnergies), Hugo Hofstetter, Ethan Vernon (Israel-Premier Tech), Lewis Askey, Thibaud Gruel (Groupama-FDJ), Jenthe Biermans (ARKEA-B&B HOTELS), Lukas Kubis (Unibet Tietema Rockets) … and potentially still many other outsiders depending on the course of the race!
