The site of the new Tit Mellil – Berrechid motorway has reached 65% advancement. This major project, officially launched as part of the modernization of the Kingdom’s road infrastructure, embodies Morocco’s ambition to streamline traffic in the Grand Casablanca region and to strengthen connectivity between the north, the center and the south of the country.
30 kilometers long, this strategic highway will connect the Casablanca bypass motorway up to Tit Mellil to that of Casablanca-Marrakech as well as to the Berrechid-Beni Mellal axis. An investment of 2.5 billion dirhams was mobilized for its realization, making this infrastructure the first Moroccan motorway designed directly in 2 × 3 lanes.
The route provides for the construction of two major exchangers: one on the regional road 315, facilitating access to the neighboring municipalities, and the other on the national road 9, serving Mohammed V airport and the city of Deroua. The project also includes four viaducts, including one on the Hassar wadi, as well as 24 recovery works to maintain the continuity of local roads.
In addition to these components, the site is based on advanced engineering techniques, such as soil treatment to hydraulic binders, the nailing of the embankments and reinforced embankments, in order to adapt the highway to a dense urban environment and guarantee its sustainability. The allotment of the project in four lots, entrusted to Moroccan companies, reflects the will of the ADM to support national expertise in the construction sector.
The Tit Mellil – Berrechid motorway is an essential link in the vision carried by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, for a modern and efficient motorway network. Scheduled to be delivered within a global period of 30 months from October 2023, this project illustrates Morocco’s commitment to support its economic and urban development by quality infrastructure.
