On the night of May 1, 1985, a trapped van exploded near the FEB headquarters, located rue des Sols, in Brussels. Two firefighters – Marcel Bergen and Jacques Van Marcke – Lose life during this attack perpetrated by the CCC. The far left clandestine organization, founded in June 1983, will claim 21 attacks at an era marked by the Cold War, demonstrations against European missiles in Europe and the Brabant killers. Thursday, flowers came to adorn the cobblestones of rue des Sols, at the place of the drama.
A minute of silence was then observed, before speeches were pronounced. In addition to a section of the firefighters of Brussels, the director general of the FEB, Pieter Timmermans, the mayor of the city of Brussels Philippe Close, or even a representative of the Minister of the Interior Bernard Quintin attended the tribute.
