A woman in her thirties died and two other people were injured Wednesday afternoon, during a head-on collision involving two vehicles on Chemin Saint-Pierre, in Sainte-Élisabeth, in the Lanaudière region.

The accident occurred around 4:30 p.m.

The driver of the vehicle lost control of her car and collided with another vehicle traveling in the opposite direction, the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) confirmed in a press release on Thursday.

Three people were injured in the collision, one critically, while the other two suffered minor injuries.

A 35-year-old woman was taken to hospital in critical condition.

The victim, originally from Saint-Gabriel-de-Brandon, succumbed to his injuries later in the evening.

Chemin Saint-Pierre was closed to traffic until 10:45 p.m.

An investigation is underway to clarify the causes and circumstances surrounding this collision.
