30 years of career, 25 million records sold and a 17th album which has just been released: Lara Fabian remains an essential artist on the French-speaking Music scene. The Belgian singer, often tormented, is now at peace at 55 years old.
For the release of her 17th album, Lara Fabian sets herself a real marathon. She tirelessly goes through interviews and meetings with her fans and appears more present than ever.
“I have the feeling that today when I say I am here, which is the title of the album it is true, but when I say it in the broadest sense of the term, in my life it is real. I feel that this presence is finally the reality of my life. she confides. “I have often suffered from retrospective nostalgia or sometimes from anticipation of the future with some related anxieties, like this, it has often happened to me and I have discovered the power of this moment here, now, of what it can trigger as beauty, as a small miracle.”
In her new album, Lara Fabian evokes the modesty of feelings, the unsaid, the complexity of the bond between a father and his daughter. “‘I am from you’ is the song that speaks of resilience par excellence, forgiveness par excellence, but above all finding meaning in what hurts. We need meaning sometimes. And when we realize that , whatever the grief was, we were able to make it into something beautiful, a material to transmit, a space to share.”
When Lara Fabian talks about herself, many of those who listen to her recognize themselves in the words. “Everything that is personal is universal,” said Victor Hugo.says the singer. “More than ever, more than ever what I say today is actually in connection with others. More than ever, it is a part, a facet of what I am or what I have experienced. But I’m not using the music or this album to deal with it, or to metabolize it, I’ve already done that.”
At 55, Lara Fabian reveals herself without bitterness or resentment. The authentic artist with 25 million albums sold clearly still has a lot to deliver to his audience.
