She is La Chica. Pythian aura, flamboyant red hair, real name Sophie Fustec, singer, pianist and composer, smiles when asked who she is. “A very broad question. In relation to who and what? In relation to music, we venture. “I consider myself an artist poet on this planet.” His clear eyes and the delicacy of his features reveal a form of gentle disquietude and serious concentration.
In his disk Change published in 2019, followed by The Word in 2020, the musician blurs our perceptions, the sounds double. In the contours of his instrumentations, his voice blurs like a spell. Listening to it, we think of The turbulent Infinity by Henri Michaux, because the music of La Chica instills the same power of vertigo. From its labyrinthine rhythms to street art-style sound collages, La Chica also reinterprets singing Pilon Song (pestle songs), which recalls the grinding of corn and has its roots in indigenous traditions to invoke the gods or appease the spirits.
