“I was a little surprised,” admits this entrepreneur, who has only been in for three years. Karim Alsaleh’s career path is unusual. Born in 1984 in Syria, he first studied law there for two years before branching off to study to become an interior designer. In 2011, revolt lurked in Syria and after participating in demonstrations against the regime of Bashar Al-Assad, Karim Alsaleh was arrested. After four days behind bars, he was given only a few days to leave the country.

He then went to Jordan where he worked for several years before putting together an application to join . A political refugee, he arrived in in 2019 before joining Pau three years ago. A city that he particularly appreciates. “It’s very calm and above all the people are very nice. I would have liked to get here before,” smiles the forty-year-old with a nod to his stay in Marseille.

Now very well integrated in Pau, he now speaks more than adequate French, which allows him to better sell himself and his work. “It works a lot with word of mouth,” he says in French in the text before showing some of his creations. “My job works better in big cities, but I am very attached to Pau,” continues Karim Alsaleh with the hope of getting Archinnove’s business off the ground.
