Xiaomi’s Mijia sub-brand is responsible for all sorts of bizarre gadgets and the latest product to see the light of day under the brand’s umbrella is the new Xiaomi Mijia Smart Dumbbells, apparently aimed at working out aerobics at home.
The Mijia Smart Dumbbells come in a box containing two bars and what appear to be four adjustable plates that can be attached to the bars. The dumbbells are white, with a black bar and a power button on one of them. This black bar displays workout data, including information such as calories burned and a stopwatch.
Like all fitness gadgets, Mijia smart dumbbells communicate with the Mi Home app and can store historical workout data, provide reports and generate workout support resources. Settings such as workout mode and intensity can also be set via the Mi Home app.
Each dumbbell weighs a maximum of 2KG, the stand-alone bar weighs 1KG and each attachable weight plate weighs 0.5KG more. The device is powered by two AA alkaline batteries housed in a hidden compartment and whose autonomy is announced at 177 days. The price is currently set at 99 CNY ($14).
