Toddlers, with helmets screwed on, obscuring their toddler faces. Gloves almost as imposing as this hesitation to strike the first blow, characteristic, sometimes, of the discovery of competition. The biggest, already established, guided by coaches attentive to the smallest details. The departmental championships in all categories made it possible to carry out a review of the workforce in the Caqueret gymnasium in Decize. Rare site that can accommodate the meeting.
“It’s a fear,” says Roland Ducrot, president of the Nièvre committee since 1994 and member since its creation in 1988. “I have already warned. I'm afraid that we won't be able to organize competitions in the long term. Today, it is limited to Decize, Pougues-les-Eaux, Imphy and Nevers. »
But the desire is there, and draws motivation, a constructive evolution. “Since I took office, we have lost a few clubs along the way, in Corbigny, La Machine, Magny-Cours, Coulanges-lès-Nevers,” explains Roland Ducrot, quickly reassuring. “The paradox is that we have more competitors. I have known Departmentals with just 50 participants. We are at 170 with parity between kumite and kata! The kids love competing against each other, giving out medals and cups. »
No employee on the committee
Nivernais karate has undergone its transformation, like its supervisors. “Teachers are training more and more and better and better,” continues the president, “through the DAF, a federal assistant diploma which allows you to open a club and teach, the DIF, an instructor diploma federal, and the CQP, professional qualification certificate. With the CQP, the teacher has the possibility of teaching for remuneration. »
The committee is far from this last consideration, having no employees due to lack of resources. “We operate with a budget of around 10,000 euros for the season,” remarks Roland Ducrot, before specifying: “3,200 from the Departmental Council, 1,500 from funds for the development of community life, 1,500 from the National Sports Agency, 1,100 retrocession from the Federation, at a rate of 2 euros per license. We are managing to balance the books. »
In this context, Didier Perrot acts as departmental technical director, “on a voluntary basis”, with the responsibility of liaising with the clubs, organizing courses, seminars, etc.
On the tatami mats installed in Decize, the Nièvre championships were unfortunately limited to young people, with the seniors being absent, with only two entries. “The most extensive category is that of the youngest,” remarks Frédérique Mouzer, in charge of the sports commission on the committee. “The more you move up the category, the more it unravels. Kids change sports often. »
-The locomotives Maëlyne Grisard and Charlène Onana
It doesn't matter, the next generation is there and their names are Maëlyne Grisard (Decize), Charlène Onana (Surgy) or even Zélie Betramo-Voisin (Surgy). The first two, opposed in the junior final, were selected in December to compete in the Youth League in Venice. “They are ranked at the world level,” emphasizes Frédérique Mouzer. “Maëlyne is 130th among the cadets and Charlène 157th among the juniors. »
Both will be in Burgundy-Franche-Comté, like all the participants. “The Nièvre are not qualifying,” explains Roland Ducrot. “You just have to participate to go to the Regionals”, in Dijon, on February 16 for kumite and March 2 for kata. “This is the limit of the regulations”, retains Frédérique Mouzer. “A competitor who does not have an opponent in a weight category has the obligation to be present to be qualified for the regional phase. We cannot dispense it…”
