With its latest collection of “four colors”, Bic met Toulouse in the spotlight! Created in 1970, the iconic pen made in France has since been released in numerous versions. But until then, among French cities, only Paris et Marseille were entitled to their collection.
Four colors for the Pink City
Toulouse was chomping at the bit… And the good news arrived. Since last month, five pens dedicated to the City of Violets are on sale on the site. On four of them, we find scenes of life in Toulouse colors, tinted by the green water of the Canal du Midithe red and black jerseys of Toulouse Stadiumthe blue of Garonne and the Dôme de la Grave under the Occitanie sun.
As for the pink brick, dear to Claude Nougaro and so emblematic of Toulouse that it earned him his nickname, it is everywhere. The fifth pen also pays homage to him, iced pink. “When we started talking about the Pink City project, it was obvious to us! ” noted Cindy Philippon-Lebrecsales manager of the Bic.com site.
Chocolate, Rugby, Canal du Midi, Saint-Sernin… The Capitol seen from the capital is a bit cliché, you might say? Maybe so, but that’s not the important thing. “Toulouse inspired us a lot while Bordeaux and Lyon do not (yet) have a collection,” recalls Cindy Philippon-Lebrec who, definitely knows how to speak to the people of Toulouse.
Two new collections every month
Of the animals to planespassing through various characters, symbols and themesthe four-color has an “exceptional palette of decorations”, welcomes the manager. And with two original collections launched on average every month, the range is regularly expanded with new sets.
Geographically, several French regions such as Normandy, Corsica and the Basque Country have already been highlighted by Bic. Foreign metropolises such as New York, Marrakech or London as well as countries (Spain, Portugal, etc.) have also found their place in the collections.
Toulouse, in the top 5 best sellers
“The region, city or country side is always very popular,” adds Cindy Philippon-Lebrec. “ Toulouse clearly had its placeand we don’t regret having done it, because the collection is in the top 5 sales of the moment on the site,” she adds.
According to her, the success of the collection can be attributed to the love of Toulouse residents for their beloved city, but not only: “we also have a lot of purchases from other regions of France”.
A cult product that has become timeless
Timeless and unbeatable, the four-color pen signed Bic has won over so many generations of schoolchildren and students who, having become adults, have retained their affection for him.
In recent years, its many variations have propelled the small utensil to the status ofobjet collector. Some have even become « stylobiliaphiles » : thus, a resident of the Paris region would own more than 1600 copies of “4 Couleurs”!
They all come from one and the same place: the Bic factory in Montévrain, in Seine-et-Marne, which produces more than 200,000 pens every day. “We sell tens of millions every year, all over the world! » confirms the brand to pens, razors and lighters. It is, undoubtedly, one of the French industrial jewels.
