At Arthur and Janine’s presents the exhibition ofEric Lusito : Institutes – A Science Odysseya project at the crossroads of art, science and history.

Eric Lusito is a French documentary photographer. Eric was 12 years old when cameras around the world documented the fall of the Berlin Wall. The strength of the emotions perceived leaves a deep mark on him. At the beginning of the 2000s, Eric, camera in hand, decided to leave without a specific goal to discover the other side of the wall. A chance meeting with a Czech professor who takes him to see an abandoned military base will change the course of his life. He begins a long journey to the countries of the former Soviet bloc which will culminate in a book published by Dewi Lewis. In 2021 the meeting of a researcher in Ukraine begins a new project on research institutes in this little-known world. Despite the war, Eric continues – in Ukraine, Armenia, Georgia, Latvia, Romania, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan – until his return to Ukraine in December 2023, this project which unveils unique scientific installations covering a hundred years of physics research until to today’s most cutting-edge laboratories.
