On the occasion of its 14th edition, EAT Photos introduces us to the photographer's personal work Paul Lepreux represented by the agency Julian Meijer.
AUTOPSY
Photographer: Paul Lepreux
In this series AUTOPSYthe idea was to photograph plants cut in half with great precision so that we could see the internal structure because this part is as fascinating as the exterior of the plant.
There is also a powerful ambivalence linked to death
A living being whose life was taken by cutting its stem in a garden to enjoy its beauty.
Is it cruel? The title is an allusion to this paradox.
For this series Paul collaborated with the young and talented floral stylist Myriam Bonaglia.
When he decides to produce a new series of photos, Paul asks himself an essential question:
Has the chosen subject never or rarely been photographed or is it already a “classic” already inscribed in the history of images?
In the first case, everything is possible since it is original by definition (never seen before) but in the second case (here flowers), how can we approach it in a new way?
