A shared gallery (GAAAP) opened its doors at Avenue de l'Impératrice Joséphine in the village of Trois-Îlets on Saturday November 9, 2024. This space is intended to support Martinican artistic creation, initiated by Ateliers Kalibouka, “the first cooperative of crafts, design and art” on the island.
Located at 32-2 avenue de l'Impératrice Joséphine in Trois-Îlets, the Galerie Partagée des Ateliers Kalibouka (GAAAP) offers a “tool for supporting and promoting creatives in Martinique (…), offering a conducive environment to develop, experiment, learn and share their know-how with the public”.
This project also stands out for its label: it is the only one in Martinique, among 300 national applications, to be labeled “Proximity Manufacturing” by the National Agency for Territorial Cohesion and France Tiers-Lieux.
Faced with the visibility difficulties encountered by art professionals in Martinique, Ateliers Kalibouka hope to make GAAAP a concrete solution. “We created this space to break the isolation of artists and allow them to develop together.” they emphasize.
Beyond a simple exhibition space, the gallery aims to become the starting point of an artistic network in Martinique.
By opening this first Shared Gallery in Trois-Îlets, we are laying the foundations of a network of enthusiasts intended to spread throughout Martinique!
Building on this first experience, Ateliers Kalibouka aspire to open “a new chapter for all those who believe in essential values such as solidarity, sharing and unity”.
At the Galerie Partagée, visitors are invited to discover a selection of works created by artists from the island. “By visiting and purchasing from GAAAP, you directly contribute to supporting Martinican creativity and preserving our cultural heritage,” according to the Kalibouka Workshops.
