As part of the Big Bang Éco Le Figaro, the journalist, presenter and filmmaker Antoine de Caunes, who has just launched the magazine Vieux, answered questions from Yves Thréard. He criticizes the marginalization of elderly people in our society.

On the occasion of the Big Bang Eco organized by Le Figaro, Antoine de Caunes, well-known host and director, protested against the cult of youth that there could be today in France, during his interview with Yves Thréard. Having recently launched the magazine Oldde Caunes spoke out about what he considers to be an unfair marginalization of elderly people.

According to the 70-year-old presenter, seniors are often pushed into a silent and isolated retirement after years of contribution to society, while they aspire to remain at the heart of social and political life. However, older people have a wealth of experience and a serenity acquired over time, which are valuable for society, he thinks. “Having lived, we still sometimes have a form of experience – I’m not going to say expertise – and then a form of serenity. We have lived and exhausted all these questions about the need to prove that we exist, to prove to others that we exist, to find our place… Normally, these questions are resolved, so we have more time to share.»

By evoking this youthism and with the launch of the quarterly Old, Antoine de Caunes calls for better recognition and integration of older people, emphasizing their essential role in the transmission of knowledge and their ability to enrich our society.
