The supermodel who stayed away from the lenses following botched cosmetic surgery had not walked the Met Gala carpet since 2015.

After getting back on the catwalk thanks to Fendi and taking part in the show dedicated to Supermodels on Apple TV, Linda Evangelista made a remarkable return at the Met Gala. In fact, we had not seen the ex-partner of Kyle MacLachlan and Fabien Barthez at the event since 2015, when she was a very regular guest.

The reason for this long absence? A failed cosmetic surgery about which the top model has spoken at length in recent months. She explained to her Instagram community in September 2021: “To my followers who were wondering why I wasn’t working while my peers’ careers were thriving, the reason for this absence is that I was brutally disfigured by the CoolSculpting procedure. (Or cryolipolysis a method of slimming by cold, Editor’s note) which produced the opposite effect of what I expected. The procedure is said to have “increased, not reduced” her fat cells and “deformed for life” her body, despite the two “painful and unsuccessful” corrective surgeries she subsequently endured. Linda Evangelista also faced breast cancer and underwent a double mastectomy.

For this big return to one of the most important fashion events, she opted for a minimalist and immaculate Khaite outfit and long white gloves that hid her arms. Her short bob was highlighted by a pair of curls by designer Ana Khouri. An imperial apparition for an icon in a state of grace.
