Guest on the “Popcorn” show broadcast on Twitch on April 30, 2024, Pierre Niney returned to an anecdote: he could have played Spider-Man. “I would have loved to do Spider-Man. And added: “I refused to be cast for Spider-Man because I was told that I had to be locked in for 10 years with Marvel and Disney.”
Asked about the prospect of a career in Hollywood, the 35-year-old Frenchman responded frankly. “I don’t care much more because we have such an exceptional industry in France. We have genre cinema, horror films, adventure films, arthouse films. It’s crazy. Frankly, too proud of France and when you have the chance to have work, like us, it’s so cool,” he confided.
If Pierre Niney admits to having plenty of American directors whom he “adulates and adores”, this does not seem to motivate him to leave France. “It’s true that going to the castings there, because I’ve done it two or three times, means starting over again, not even from zero, but -16. They have Andrew Garfield, Paul Dano, and I forget some. There are maboul actors so they don’t really need us,” he concluded.
