Montech. The poetics of Thierry Jamme

Tarn-et-Garonne sculptor Thierry Jamme exhibits at the fourteenth Spring Salon of the Garonne and Canal Plastic Arts Association, and he is the guest of honor.

During the opening of this exhibition, President Michèle Bolhy welcomed the sculptor as he deserves, as the great artist that he is in his field: metal sculpture.

“My artistic sensibility started with music a long time ago, when my parents enrolled me in music lessons. As a young adult, I discovered the world of abstract art, the Dada movement and the surrealists. A revelation. Then I became interested in a material that fascinates me: metal. I was amazed by ironwork, Art Nouveau period and style.

To some 200 guests at this opening, Thierry Jamme explained his approach, which he himself calls “poetic commitment”.

A world of daydreams

“My creations offer an imaginary universe inspired by different themes, such as mythology, legends, readings, current events, discussions, here and there, and even (and above all) daydreams.” He uses forge work and recycled metal parts as a medium and sometimes incorporates glass elements made to measure by the Moissac glass workshop.

“Delicate and fragile glass, cold and robust metal, these two materials respond to each other and constitute a whole that evokes the human in its complexity.”

“This human is placed as a being who is part of wholes that go beyond and transcend him: nature, our planet, the cosmos. The incandescent pieces forged, hammered, welded, transform and become something else, a entity that speaks to our soul and questions us, a poetic commitment.”

So, let’s take advantage of these artistic and poetic parentheses which allow our soul to see, if we want to, a world of the sensitive, a world of reverie, and thus, perhaps, to be able to imagine, envisage and work for a less chaotic world.

Spring salon, in the Delbosc room, in Montech until May 5 inclusive.
