DISAPPEARANCE – After working at Europe 1, the journalist became famous by presenting this show on TF1, from 2001 to 2003.

We hadn’t seen her on the small screen since 2007. That year, Geraldine Carré had hosted a show on the Fox Life channel – which has since disappeared – and participated as a columnist on “Langue de VIP” on TF1.

Benjamin Castaldi, who produced this headline program, announced his death on social networks at the age of 54: “Géraldine, we did not meet often, but each of these rare times was marked by respect and sincere affection. Today, as I search for the right words, everything I feel turns into a deep admiration for the person you were. Your values, your kindness and your smile remain engraved in our memories. It’s definitely always the best who leave…”

After studying modern literature, Géraldine Carré began a career as a journalist, at the Lyon office of the AFP then as a freelancer. A few years later, she joined the Europe 2 Lyon station. Listeners then heard her calm voice and her clear tone on Europe 1 where, in 1997, she hosted two hours of daily broadcasts. She finally landed on television, in “Tout Paris”, on Paris Première.

Julien Courbet’s tribute

Noticed, Géraldine Carré was recruited in 1996 to be a columnist in “Télé qua non”, on France 2. A Saturday evening show hosted by Christophe Dechavanne, halfway between a talk show and entertainment. TF1 hired him the following year to join Daniela Lumbroso’s team in “And if it happened to you”. She was then perceived as a rising star in the front page, which in the summer of 2001 entrusted her with “L’enfer de la nuit”, devoted to the professions, the dangers and the pleasures of the night.

But his name will remain attached, in the world of the small screen, to “Intimate Confessions”, presented by him from 2001 to 2003. Produced by Julien Courbet, the program was broadcast on Wednesday evenings, in the second part of the evening. “I met her on vacation, we talked about radio. On my return I entrusted him with the presentation of “Intimate Confessions”remembered the host of “Capital” on X when paying tribute to him, before recalling “class, perspective, self-deprecation and humor” demonstrated by Géraldine Carré.

“Intimate Confessions” aimed to provide, with the help of columnists and therapists, solutions to people suffering from personal problems, whether family, relational, physical, or professional. Up to 2.5 million viewers were in front of their televisions listening to these testimonies.

In 2003, when Isabelle Brès took over the reins of “Intimate Confessions”, Géraldine Carré migrated to Canal +. Where she covets “La vie en clair”, a society magazine which gives pride of place to consumer issues. The program fizzled out. The journalist returned to the small screen four years later, on Fox Life in a program devoted to decoration, and in “Langue de VIP”. She had disappeared from the audiovisual landscape as quickly as she had appeared there.

TF1 also paid tribute to the memory of the journalist on X this Saturday, May 4. “Great sadness to read and learn of the disappearance of the journalist and presenter Géraldine Carré, the leading face of “Intimate Confessions” on TF1. Géraldine was a great professional and a woman whose kindness and benevolence everyone praised. The TF1 teams send their most sincere condolences to his family and loved ones.”
