D-91 before the 2024 Games. And on this occasion, a little piece of Auvergne and Los Angeles will be present in the capital. A sculpture, intended for the Olympic Games, is designed in secret in Charbonnières-les-Vieilles, a village in Puy-de-Dôme.

It’s a still very well-kept secret. We know almost nothing about the sculpture of the Paris Olympics. Neither its size nor its weight. With one exception: it is made of bronze and stone from Mont-Dore, in Puy-de-Dôme. Imagined by Alison Saar, an American visual artist, it pays homage to cosmopolitan . It states: ”I wanted to represent the multiculturality of France and Paris. It’s this diversity that particularly touches me”.

To create her work, Alison Saar came from Los Angeles, city of the future Olympic Games in 2028. Among around twenty projects, it was hers which caught the attention of the international Olympic committee. I was very excited to be chosen by the International Olympic Committee and to represent Paris 2024she confides. Yes, I’m very honored, excited and a little nervous.”.

For 5 months, she has been working hard to make this statue: from molding to bronze casting and even carving. And all this with the help of Fonderie Fusions, in Charbonnières-les-Vieilles, in Puy-de-Dôme. An eco-responsible approach that highlights the talent of local artisans. Pauline de Gourcuff, co-manager of the foundry, explains : “There will be an Auvergne touch that will remain. The Olympic Games allowed us to make this work of art. It was a great opportunity. The sculpture will remain in the center of Paris. It’s great to know that one day we will be able to see in Paris what was done in Charbonnières-les-Vieilles.”

At the end of June, the general public will be able to discover this work in Paris in a location that is also still kept secret.
