It is up to nations to put an end to this disorder

Over the past four years have completed the bursting of the framework from the crushing of Nazism-Fascism. Grave convulsions seize two of the three organizations that have structured the said “collective security architecture” since 1945.

This is the United Nations, the UN (1945), and the organization of the North Atlantic Treaty, NATO (1949), while the “Warsaw Pact” (1955) has died and buried since 1991. Since and until today, NATO has claimed to regerate the world, in competition or in subsidiarity – the Iraq expedition in March 1991 – with the UN.

Born to “prevent and dismiss threats to peace” (art 1.1) and settle “international disputes by peaceful means” (2.3), the UN establishes by its charter the “principle of equality of rights of peoples and their right to dispose of themselves ”(1.2). Its resolutions have not always been applied – the 103 on Palestine – while the 263 veto pronounced, limited its efficiency.

However, until February 23, 2022, a semblance of security architecture remained. The assault against Ukraine tears out part of the charter: it is its first two articles that a permanent member of the violence council! On October 10, 2024, the attack on the finish, the UN force, by the army of Israel – a state created by decision of … the UN – came to expand the tear of 2022.

Born to banish war, the UN no longer knows how to enforce its raison d’être by its members! What about NATO? After Donald Trump’s statements about Greenland and Canada, she is also at a turning point. After 1991, NATO had been reoriented towards the protection of the supply of supply – existing and future – of Western countries. Hence its extension to the east, as is the succession of exercises in the North Sea aimed at preventing a possible Russian stranglehold on the tracks which could open with the cast iron.

The Trump administration is moving differently, and not only geographically. At first, Trump vociferated against the cost for the United States of the defense of a “parasitic” Europe. The injunction to the Allies to bring military budgets to 5% of their GDP is rich in prospects for the American arms industry – 42% of the world’s weapon market. The novelty is elsewhere.

By evoking military action in Greenland, it is a member country of NATO – Denmark – to which the Big Island belongs – that it plays! Never since the creation of the Atlantic Alliance, the suzerain had threatened with armed action one of the vassals, while suggesting that this could also be worth for the annexation of Canada! All this is not just boastful, as it is necessary.

First, lusts on Greenland and Canada have the same obsession with supply of supply routes which presides over the takeover of the Panama canal by the Marines announced by Trump, and this in the context of trade war with China . It is to be taken seriously because Greenland has immense reserves of rare earths on which the billionaires of Silicon Valley are eyeing.

And, it is to take really seriously insofar as it is the taboos that the “concert of nations” had erected after the crushing of Nazism-fascism that we break! In this world at the mercy of atomic madness , it is up to people to assert the news of the founding principles of the UN in the face of this dangerous new disorder. This is the challenge.
