The Departments of France call for a rethinking of road financing

The departments are sounding the alarm! The association of elected officials which brings them together organized the first Assises de la route, on January 22, 2025 in Paris. A meeting during which their difficulties in continuing to ensure the long-term management of the 380,000 kilometers of roads for which the departments are responsible were highlighted. “The deterioration of our communities’ finances is brutal. We have increasing social spending, while revenues are decreasing”explains François Sauvadet, the president of the Departments of France, from the platform.
