“I like to set myself personal challenges”

Contacted several times by production to join the casting, Sophie Davant had until now declined the invitation, due to lack of time. “I hosted daily shows that didn’t leave me four to six hours of freedom per day,” she explains to us in an interview, just after the press conference to present the new season of VALLEYlast Thursday January 16 at TF1 headquarters.

Having more time today, Sophie Davant, who always dreamed of participating in the show, finally took the plunge. “I like to set myself personal challenges. VALLEY will be an opportunity to prove things to myself”, underlines the host, used to leaving her comfort zone. Determined, the PAF star has not yet set the objective of winning the show and succeeding Canadian singer Natasha St-Pier, who lifted the trophy last year with her dancer Anthony Colette. Competition doesn’t particularly interest him. “What motivates me the most is to live up to what I’m asked to do and to be proud of myself. I hope to stay as long as possible but I suspect that some candidates, younger, are better dancers than me”, confides the host who will be in competition with 12 other personalities, including the former candidate of the Star Academy Lénie, already very talented in dancing.

The host, who you can listen to every Saturday afternoon on our channel, above all intends to have fun on the floor of VALLEY. “I want to move, have fun and have fun,” she says. Like her friend Caroline Margeridon, in the casting of the show last year, the journalist nevertheless feels a little apprehension: that of having to wear “sexy dresses” and dance in heels. “That’s what attracts me the least. But I’ll play the game! I hope I can choose the outfits with them. I like to be elegant and want to stay that way. I definitely don’t want to be ridiculous” , she tells us.

This fear is quickly swept away by her desire to show women of her generation that everything is still possible. “I’m quite flattered and proud to be their standard bearer. I want to show that 60-year-old women can remain sexy, friendly, desirable, active and sporty. I want to hold up a mirror to them and say: ‘ Why not you?” An inspiring and very necessary message when women over 50 are still invisible on our screens.
