“Eleven units of the Barcelona Fire Brigade worked to extinguish a fire on the Energy Dock, where one person died and another was seriously injured,” the Catalan city’s firefighters said on their X account.
The rescue teams deployed on site also took care of other people affected “slightly”, said the medical emergency service of the Catalonia region on X.
The incident occurred in the area where the company Terminales Portuarias SL (Tepsa) operates and affected a “methyl acetate” tank which exploded during maintenance work, according to the Civil Protection Service of Catalonia.
