The 52-year-old Hollywood star said she and her family were safe, but added that some of her friends weren’t so lucky. On Instagram Thursday, the star of Shakespeare in Love shared an image of a palm tree destroyed by flames and wrote: “Our beloved Los Angeles…”

“We are plunged into deep grief for so many of our close friends who have lost everything. Thank you to those who checked on us, we are currently safe,” she wrote to reassure her fans.

But she added: “When the fires are out there will be more to say and more to do. The city of angels will need angels of all kinds. Please stay safe and vigilant.”
